How do you write on top of lines for editing a paper?

Hi guys,

I am editig a paper for a friend, and I want to know if there is a way to write on top of a line, so the comments can be right where the writing is, instead of to the side like when you add a note. It would be really neat if that was a possibility to do, and I am wondering if any of you know if there is a way to do it, although I don't think there is.

I don't mind adding spaces in between lines to be able to write on top of lines, but for now I think I am going to have to insert a text box or work in OneNote because I don't think there is a way to do it in word.

Thank you,

Iulia

Answer

While this could be accomplished using text boxes, it would be a lot more work for you than just adding a comment and a lot more work for your friend to delete all the text boxes (instead of using Delete All Comments).

Your comments don't have to be in balloons. If you opt not to use balloons, the Reviewing Pane will be displayed by default. But even with the Reviewing Pane closed, comments will be displayed in a popup when your friend mouses over the commented text. But I think balloons are more suitable for what you're doing. Make sure you enable the balloon option to "Show lines connecting to text."
