Can't open Word File due to start/end tag mismatch error...please help!

Hello,

I have same problem with some peoples who got help from here, and any simple solution couldn't fix it.
I believe an XML expert can find out what's the problem...
Could you please take a look at my document.xml file which has 4 warnings and 1 error?
I really appreciate in advance.
It's here.

Thank you,

Jungseob

Hello Nayana,

I already tried this, but I had no luck with any of those solutions.
I think manual fix on document.xml is required to repair this doc.
But I'm not an XML expert, so had no idea when I saw that corrupted file...
Thank you,

Jungseob

You need to upload the corrupt DOCX and not just the document.xml file if you are looking for a manual repair.

@jung sublee & Nayana S M;

There is an updated hotfix from the Word team at,

Among other issues, this is intended to deal directly with the "/word/document.xml Line: 2 Column: 0" error which is not the same as the error given when Column: is not zero.

I've repaired the schema in your document.xml but I make no claims as to whether it will actually work in a Word document without access to the originally corrupted DOCX

I really appreciate all your help.
OK, I tried to open the .docx file by replacing my old document.xml with the file you fixed, but it was not successful.
I think that's why you need the original docx file.
So here is the orig docx file.
I really appreciate all your help again,

Jungseob

I've managed to recover 128 pages including your markup from the title page to the references. I've uploaded the repaired DOCX to my own SkyDrive here for you to reference and download.

Hi,

I have a similar problem with one of our word docs.

I tried the 'Fix it for me' method, but that doesn't do the job.

Can you please have a look at it for me? Thx!!!!

Hi Remco,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Word Community.

As per the description provided, the ‘Fixit’ did not resolve the issue, I suggest you to manually try to steps provided in the section ‘Let me fix it myself’ in the article given below and check if that helps.
