Afrikaans Proofing Tools for Office 2010

Is an Afrikaans proofing tool available for Office 2010 (Version 14.0.4760.1000 (32 bit). No service packs are installed

PLEASE NOTE: I do not want to change the interface language; it must stay English. I only need an Afrikaans spell checker.

It seems that most links on sites dealing with this query lead to Office 2013 sites.

See http://www.microsoft.com/af-za/download/details.aspx?id=6804. Presumably you can understand whether the LIP includes proofing tools (some do, some don't). If so, you can install them without installing the UI.

For more information on LIPs generally, see https://support.office.com/client/Office-Language-Interface-Pack-LIP-downloads-d63007c2-e8ae-41fd-8bfb-fce2857010e1.

Ah, and http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_language_interface_pack/archive/2012/05/10/office-lip-speller.aspx confirms that this LIP includes a speller.

More info for downloading and installing at http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_language_interface_pack/archive/2010/08/17/installing-and-configuring-the-office-2010-language-interface-pack-lip.aspx.

There is no "official" Microsoft proofing tool.

One that has, at least in a local Microsoft e-mail, enjoyed some sanction is WSpel.

http://wspel.wordpress.com/

It is free, and has a huge dictionary, but I find the way it is set up to work more restrictive.

Your other option, which is a much more polished product, is the one developed by what is now the North-West University:

http://www.spel.co.za or http://www.speltoetser.co.za

It's not free, but it works more like a proper proofing tool should.
