Can text entered in text form field (controls> legacy forms) shrink to fit cell in table of legacy form, Office Word 2007?

I am creating form in Office 2007 and have many tables with Text Form Fields.  Once the form is locked and is being filled in electronically, I need the text being entered to wrap and to shrink to fit into the cell.  I need the cell to stay fixed, but need to be able to see all of the text entered.  I want the text to shrink to fit the cell, I need my rows to remain static.

IS THIS POSSIBLE?  From the reading I have done, I do not believe so but I really hope I am incorrect.
It's possible, but you may not like the result. In the cell where you have the text form field, open the Table Properties and select the Cell tab. Click Options... Check the box for "Fit text."

Dear Suzanne,

I'm aware why you have mentioned "you may not like the result" but what if I do wish to have same effect as "shrink to fit" from excel using the tables in Word, how do I make it happen without expanding the text size, instead only shrinking it if it exceed the width?

I'm having few mail merge items inserted into a table in Word, and every time the text exceed the width of the cell, the text gets wrapped into the next line having the table cross to the next page, where if I just shrink the text size it will fit into 1 page.

the mail merge data is really long and having to go through the results one by one manually is a huge effort.

thanking you in advance for your support.
