I am trying to edit documents created on my work computer (Office 2000/2003) on my home computer (Office 2003). When I try to open one of these documents I get the "busy" mouse cursor and the Word window shows "Not responding" at the top. After several
minutes nothing happens, but sometimes the document sometimes opens. This also occurs if I double click on the document in the explorer window.
I'm not opening these docs over a network. I've tried renaming the default template (as has been suggested by some people) but this does not help. If I reopen word I get prompted to recover the document, with the warning that the doc caused a serious error
last time it was opened.
