Before you make the leap into Gold Family...be warned. (A Fix!)

Please read this thread on the old forum:

forumsarchive.xbox.com/.../ShowPost.aspx

I have finally received a fix for this issue after 5 months of chasing MS for it. It is very simple to do. Put all accounts associated with the Family Pack on the same console. Sign into the console as the "adult" account and go to the "Family Settings" heading on "My Xbox" section. Once in "Family Settings" you should see any "child" accounts listed there. There should be a menu option to remove the account from the family. Doing this will set the account back to the proper setting. It will state something about having to associate it with a new Live ID but it's a bogus message.

Once the account is removed, sign out of the "adult" account and then "Recover" the former child account to the console. You will have to agree to the terms again but once recovered it should be removed from any family and no longer be a child account! At least it worked for me....

Thanks for reviving this topic, AKSkins.  I was actually getting ready to message Roujin Z before I noticed your post.

Hey everybody, I'm the original OP of the thread that AKSkinz has posted above, and I just want to thank him for giving me the heads-up as well as the people at Xbox Support for finally addressing this issue.  I did exactly as AKSkinz described above and instructed my brother to recover his account on his respective console and his account is now back to normal.  I only wish it had been this simple in the first place (it should have been, MS, please attack these bugs more expediently in the future!!!).  Bottom line, all is right again.  I'm not sure if we will venture into the Family Pack again given all that has happened, but I might consider it for a secondary account for my reviews as well as for my wife should she show an interest in actually playing Xbox 0on a regular basis.  We'll see.

Thanks once again!

Are Family Gold Plan accounts still restricted to 1 "adult" account and all other being "child" accounts (regardless of age)?

That is my biggest reason to not sign up for the Family Gold Plan.

Yes it is restricted to 1 Adult per family... I was told that repeatedly by some of the support people I have dealt with in the last 5 months dealing with this issue. I have reviewed any and all documentation I could find about the "Family Pack" and no where does it state this limitation (and it is a very "big" limitation).

Until they allow at least 2 adult accounts per Family Plan, it simply isn't worth it (IMO).

Will this take away your gold and put you on the silver membership?
