Will the Kinect ever work like the Live Vison Camera?

It makes no sense that the kinect can't at least take pictures like the Live camera does. Is there any way that it will ever work like that?

Kinect is a sensor not a camera!

I'd guess that the functionality will come eventually, as a support website about creating custom Gamerpics wrote that you can take a picture with the Vision Cam or Kinect. However, when actually trying it, the Xbox tells me to use my Vision Cam instead of Kinect. It might come in future System Updates maybe.
