Why are people stupid? Xbox live is weak sauce

Having a paid subscription service gives microsoft the power to ban those that don`t stick to the rules,its worth the $60 a year for that alone.

I don`t buy gold as its of no value to me,but for those that choose to its definitely worth about the price of burger or a pint of beer once a month.

I also have a ps3 so have no loyalty to microsoft at all.

If I wanted to get ripped off, I'd spend hundreds of dollars on a high-end gaming console with absolutely no structured online community, with no incentivized plan to develop unique and intuitive GUI's for the apps I use, no community involvement in the game development scene, no dedicated matchmaking system to help get me gaming with people of my own caliber, and no system in place to protect my billing information.

But as I'm not a fan of getting ripped off, I prefer the paid service that provides all that.  I put more than $60 a year into charities and community services.  It's really just a trifle amount to spend on myself and ensure that I've got the bottled water of online gaming.  Not to knock the other guys, but if you're fine with tap water, indulge yourself.

I dont think a lot of people realize that servers are run by the games developer not Microsoft, example rock star had problems with GTA 5s online at launch with is through rock star servers and has nothing to do with the price of live. And for an online community where is there not one now a days that doesn't have one everything out there has one. Only involvement they have in game dexolpmentis how much dlc is gonna cost and to make sure it can only be played with the charge xbox provides? Show me how they help anything lol

BTW Microsoft is getting paid by all those advertisements on your dashboard so why charge if your already getting paid every time my system is turned on .....

I never mentioned online game servers for that very reason.  What Xbox LIVE provides is matchmaking service to get you into servers full of people closer to your skill level.  From there, the servers are handled by a hosting player or by the game developers' servers, as you mentioned.  The online community on other consoles is nothing like Xbox LIVE's.  From experience, I've found LIVE to be a much better online environment, like a gated community.  I don't mind paying extra for that.

Why do they have ads when you pay for Gold?  Because you pay for Gold.  You have money.  People with money are more likely to buy things than people without money, right?  Why wouldn't any business capitalize on that?  Cable TV is a paid service, and their channels have commercial breaks.  That's par for the course, really.

Theres no good reason to defend  that you have to pay for online gaming.

I think in a few years we dont need any xboxes anymore. Then every smart Tv will have the possibility to download games...

Then we all have just ONE Machine to watch TV, play Games, check the INternet and make your Girlfriend happy.

Nuh-uh.  If the online community isn't set up like Xbox LIVE, GameTV isn't getting my business.  I pay for Gold for a reason.  Because it is set apart from the rest.  If Xbox Gold were free, all sorts of nonsense would come flooding into the LIVE community.  Couldn't stand if that happened.
