My power supply light is red, I'm not sure why. I tried the steps in the thread about the lights , but the thing is it works on my living room xbox, and my garage xbox no problems; does not turn red or anything, and the consoles power up and work with no problems. When I plug it into the xbox on my desk though, it immediately turns red, and the xbox will not turn on at all. My other two power supplies do the same on this console.

Its the plug that you are pluging the console into. The power brick is protecting your xbox from xbox 360 power. i suggest not pluging the console into that power source anymore

Hmm, if you move that console out to the garage or living room, does the same issue occur? If it does occur in different outlets, the the console will need to be replaced. You can check your warranty status and set one up here.

Im having the same issue, from day one with my brand new console the power brick has been working fine for the length of time im playing but once i shut the console down the power bricks light goes red!
Then in order to get the thing working again i have to unplug every cable from it, and then plug everything back in and it works again until i power down. it happened again tonight i plugged everything back in and the light was green, i was called to sort something out so walked away from it all, when i had finished what i was doing i retuned to the xbox and the light was still green, this is where the tricky thing comes in. I had not plugged in the play and charge cable and thought i better do so, as soon as i did that while the console was powered down the red light on the brick came on. i left it plugged in and unplugged everything else as normal then tried to start the machine up and again i had a red light, i tried it again with the play and charge cable unplugged and it worked.
I think that there may be a short in that cable some place and the power brick is protecting the xbox. try this method if you are using a play and charge cable it may just work.
