Prevent purchases on XBox

Hello

Reading through all articles here and unable to find 'How to prevent purchases on XBox' ... i.e., how to lock it down?

If I remove my CC, the subscription is gone.

I would like to lock it down so no additional purchases are made.

Super thank you

Anthony

FalconGold7,

The only thing I can think of that might help you is: support.xbox.com/.../Password or www.xbox.com/.../Account-Security. Otherwise, you might try contacting Microsoft Support directly: support.xbox.com/.../contact-us.

Sincerely,

-DAWy

You could set a passcode on your account, so that every time you try to log in with your account on the console it requires a four-button passcode. This would mean only people who know that code (ie, you) would be able to log in and make purchases from the console. You can find info on this here: support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-pass-codes

Alternately, you could force it to ask you for the Microsoft Account password each time you sign in. To activate this, go to Settings/Account/Account Security/Password At Sign-In and choose 'require password here'

Thank you for the suggestions.

In more detail to what I am wanting to do:

I have a passcode set up for the family-timer so that my son can play on the device for a period of time. He does not have this passcode.

I would like to prevent him from making purchases (i.e. skin packs for Minecraft or other games) as this has happened in the past.

I would still like for him to have access to live account as they chat and such.

I would like to prevent purchases.

Will try the examples above.

Super thank you

Anthony

Also, you could just purchase the gold subscriptions via a prepaid card so you don't have to leave a payment method on  file.

Oh right, ok.

So to clarify: from whose account do you want to block purchases? Yours or his? My suggestions will stop him getting access to your account (so he cannot make purchases that way).

To stop purchases from his account (only neeeded if there is a payment method attached to his account, which there may not be) you will want to change the parental controls on the Xbox 360. You can find information on that here: support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-parental-control

If you also ask him to log in on Xbox.com and go to My Account (upper right) there should be somewhere where you can restrict the purchases of things from the Marketplace (he needs the parental email/log-in to access these, so you need to be there) but I cannot find these as I am neither a child nor parental account. I knew where they were on the previous layout of the pages, but these were updated recently. There should be something there, but unfortunately you will have to hunt around for it as I cannot locate it exactly myself.

I hope this helps (even if the last part is a little vague).
