Personal Information

I'm sorry but what type of company would need you to phone them up just to cancel my credit card details off of my account, any company should have the option to directly remove their card details & have the option to choose whether to auto re-new subscription, especially as this is Microsoft, I would of thought they would have a decent payment plan.

Also giving you a removal button to delete the details, that doesn't actually work is a bit mis-leading, I don't want to have to phone them to get rid of some personal information, which by rights I can & should be able to delete at anytime.

Seriously, this is stupid.

If your credit card is attached to an active Live membership then no, you will not be able to remove any of your credit card details until the membership is over. The only way that will happen is if you contact them by phone and tell them to turn off auto renewal. Or if you wish to skip the entire process completely and have the credit card removed right away you would still need to contact them via phone and tell them to cancel your Live subscription and remove your credit card. Then as long as you have more than 30 days left on that subscription they will issue you a redeem token within 3-5 business days that you can use on whatever account.

From there I would recommend using pre-paid cards to top off your Live time if you don't want your credit card information left on your active account.

BTW, it tells everyone in the XBL Terms of Service that this will happen if you use a credit/debit card for your Live subscription. So if you read that agreement before you signed it you would already know this.

Phone companies, internet companies, energy companies all require that you call to deactivate the service. This is a very common billing procedure...
