Windows 7

1-4 Hours
Enter the exact error that you are experiencing :
live mail does not respond

Additional Details
If I have checked my mail and close live mail to work with a different program, I cannot reopen live mail. No error message, just no response. I have to reboot the computer to be able to open the program. The same happens if I leave my laptop idle for some time and it goes into sleeping mode. After I have woken up the computer, I cannot enter live mail if I do not reboot. Any suggestion? This happened from the beginning, i.e. since I got a live mail account last week. Outlook express was so much easier to use.

Hi Melanie,
sorry for the late reply, but I didn't have the time to get to my mother's place, as it is her computer that has the problem. I did what you've said, but when I double clicked Windows Live Essentials, nothing happened. I clicked again after about 5 minutes and there was a message that said: 'Please wait until the deinstallation or change of the actual program has been finalized'. I waited and waited, but nothing happened. What else can I do?
Thanks for your help.

For us to investigate the issue, please answer the questions below:

- Do you have the administrator user when you tried uninstalling the Windows Live Essentials?
- Have you tried creating a new user on the computer and tried uninstalling the Windows Live Essentials?

Thanks!

Hi Ace J.,

sorry, I have no idea about the administrator user, and I don't know how to check that either. But I definitely did not try to create a new user as I do not know how to do that either. I just followed the steps Melanie told me to do to repair the program and got stuck as the option to repair the program never showed up.
What do I need to do?
Thanks for your help.

Hi nauxiep,

Thank you for the details you provided. You may need to do a clean removal of Windows Live Mail to resolve this issue. Unlike regular uninstall and re-install, clean removal deletes and all the registry keys associated with Windows Live Mail. You can refer to this solution article for the steps on how to do it:

How to uninstall Windows Live Essentials

After doing the clean removal, download and install the latest version of Windows Live Mail, please refer to the link below

Try to uninstall and reinstall Windows Essentials and check if it resolves your concern:

Let us know the outcome.

Thanks.
