My mouse has frozen on screen - what should I do?

My computer was working OK.  Then the mouse cursor froze on screen.  I could not close the computer down and so just closed doen the power.  I switched it on again but the cursor is still frozen on the screen.  The light is on on the mouse.

Any suggestions?

I have an Acer Intel S5 with Windows 7 installed. I had the same problem, in that my touchpad mouse & screen FROZE. I could not even turn the power off. I did a Google search & followed all instructions in fixing the problem, but none of them worked. All was not lost. I just waited for the battery to deplete & the computer turned off. I then connected the power supply & noted the AMBER light ON, showing that the power was connected & charging. I continued my work on my desktop, & after a few hours noted the Amber light go out, & turned to BLUE, showing it was completely charged. I had no trouble turning the Laptop ON by the normal method, & all systems, touchpad mouse worked 100%.
