Alright so I have this problem right out of the box with a new laptop running win 7 ult (64bit) and my old desktop running win 7 prof (32bit):
I'm trying to do some work with net user in CMD but it's saying I don't have permission. Shocking enough I thought putting yourself in the admin group gives you admin rights. At first I thought this might just be a security thing Microsoft was doing trying to protect the sheep that don't know better but instead i found what seems like a massive glitch. From what I've read the reason this error comes up is because you are sharing privileges in the admin group. Funny enough I'm almost positive i had several admin accounts in XP. You can't remove the default admin group and here lies my problem. I've read a lot of forums where people were editing their keys in regedit. I've messed with a ton of sh*t on many computers over multiple platforms and I never got into screwing with regedit.
One solution was to reassign ownership of your hard drive to your admin user account. When doing this there are roughly 4 files that are restricted and the error continues.
Any ideas out there? If it involves regedit can you treat me like a noob. Also any good books or resources on regedit or what i'm venturing into now, hex editing you can suggest would be great.
