When I click on Burn CD I always get the message saying "Burn failed" immediately.  What's happening here?

Answer
Answer

Hi jeffrich136,

a.  Does this issue occur while trying to burn a particular file format?

b.  Was it working fine earlier?

c.  What is the exact error message?

If you are installed any third party software to burn the Cd's try to remove it and check if the issue persists.

·     Check that your CD recordable (CD-R) or CD rewritable (CD-RW) drive has the recent driver software from Windows Update.

• Try burning different files to the CD to make sure the problem isn't with the files being burned.

• Try different CD brands to see if another brand works.

• Lower the burn speed on your burner.

Method 1: The procedure for doing so varies depending on which version of the Player you are running.

1. Start the Player, click the arrow below the Burn tab, and then click More Options.

2. In Burn speed, select a slower speed.

Method 2: You may try to verify if the recording option is enabled on your CD drive.

Follow the steps below and verify if you are able to burn the CD's.

1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Computer.
3. Right click on CD drive.
4. Click on Recording tab.
5. Select check box for "Enable CD Recording on the Drive".

C00D11C7: Cannot play, burn, or synchronize the file

Windows Media Player cannot play, burn, or synchronize the file because a required codec is not installed on your computer. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

•  You are trying to burn (copy) the file to a CD, but you have never played the file on your computer. Play the file, and the Player should try to download the required codec automatically.
•  The Player is not configured to download codecs automatically. To configure the Player to download codecs automatically, on the Tools menu, click Options, click the Player tab, and then select the Download codecs automatically check box.
•  Note that you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to complete this procedure.
•  The required codec is not available on the codec server

You may have to download the required codecs and check.
