KB3176493 for Windows 10 and KB3177725 for Windows 7 broke printing in our software

My company developes ERP software, printing invoices and sales orders etc is a critical part of our clients business.

The august 2016 updates for Windows 7 and Windows 10 have not been good. Many of our clients have called in, unable to print more than one page at a time, any more and they get blank page or corrupt printjob with an error. Problem is solved after uninstalling KB3176493 on Windows 10 and KB3177725 on Windows 7.

Even the well known label software Bartender has issued a statement on its website reporting simular issues.

What on earth is the connection between these updates and printing?

Our software is developed in Delphi

I´m running latest insider build 14393.67 and have the same issue.

Hello Dan,

I just managed to run 5.000 jobs on a single Word instance under production level conditions.

A random sampling of that set shows no errors and the obvious symptom of extremely small files does also not occur anymore.

So I'm happy to declare this fix the silver bullet^W^W fix that solves our printing issues.

Thanks a lot,

Stefan

Not any good if they can´t release it to the masses. Almost none of our clients run Enterprise LTSB builds.

I was noting it fixes _our_ (as in me and my colleagues and customers) printing problems. I never intended to pretend I was speaking for everyone on this forum.

Our customers run platforms that are exclusively affected by KB3177725. Those platforms are covered by the current fixes.

This is my only communication channel back to Microsoft, and as I wrote an extensive error report earlier in this thread I wanted to confirm as well that the problems as I described are resolved by this fix.

Thanks Dan!  This fix worked for our systems having issues printing to Zebra printers.  Could you please request that the link to the fix be published on the actual KB article?  Also, perhaps ask that this update be published for WSUS so that we can deploy it more easily?

Sorry if my post came out too harsh, never intended that way. Of course this helps my clients still on Windows 7 but majority of them have upgraded to Windows 10.
Uninstalling the update was the first fix but with never builds the bug is now in the core OS so no update to uninstall.

My apologies Stefan.

Thank you Stefan & Matt for verifying the issue is resolved on your end.

Kristjan, we will be releasing each package as soon as it is ready.

Matt- Regarding WSUS and other release mechanisms (such as Windows Update), I cannot say anything other than we are working on it.

Stay tuned.  I will update this forum when additional information or packages are available.

Take care,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I do appreciate your updates!  What I don't appreciate is having to wait weeks upon weeks to get a resolution.  I have had to set my user's ethernet to metered to keep KB3176934 from coming back, leaving that workstation with no automatic updates.  It is far from acceptable!

Thank you!

Larry

Hi, I used the "show/hide" updates to prevent the re-installation of KB3176934 (just after uninstall it)
