Set up controller has encountered a problem during install

I uninstalled MS 2010 today..... completed a system restore and was able to get it back. Now I am getting several error messages including "set up controller has encountered a problem during install. Please review the log files for further information on the error."  After clicking "ok" I get the next error message, "Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed....." 

I attempted to uninstall MS 2010 again in order to reinstall it correctly, however..... it won't let me uninstall it. So now I'm stuck. Help!

Try the steps suggested in the following thread link to fix the error ‘The action cannot be completed because the file is open in another program’ using Windows Safe:
