Unable to buy gold

Please try the following steps to allow you to purchase the content you would like on Xbox LIVE.

1. Sign out of your live account (if you are signed in via your Xbox at the time.)

2. Log onto your Xbox account, go to your billing information, remove all forms of payment you have listed.

3. Re-enter your primary form of payment. Ensure that the site returns you to the main account screen.

If it does not, then you may get an error stating there is an authentication issue with your form of payment. If so, review your information and then retry submitting it again.

4. Sign back into Xbox Live. Everything should work now.

In the event this fails, then you should ensure that you have no outstanding balance to be paid on

https://billing.microsoft.com. Finally if the problem isn't resolved you will have to contact phone support for your region.

I've tried that several times with no result. Also, this is the first purchase I'm making from microsoft with my creditcard and I've ensured that it's not overcharged.

Have you contacted your bank to see if there is a hold on your account, or that the payment method is able to make online purchase?

You also cannot use a prepaid credit card for purchasing LIVE time, as it requires the ability for automatic billing (auto renewal).
