Reading the books after completing ME1/2 (Wise?)

Many moons ago in the old forums, I came across references to the Mass Effect books that would go straight over my head.

Given my obsession with the Mass Effect franchise, I would like to see what all the hubbub is about.

I was unable to find the books anywhere (even Borders), but now I'm able to buy them off iBooks.

Would reading the books add new insight to my overall Mass Effect experience? Would it be a waste of time, since I already completed ME1/2?

Suggestions are most appreciated.

I can only speak for the comics, and I've still yet to read the last two issues.  The 'Evolution' series gives a great background into The Illusive Man.  The artwork alone is worth the price, and it's extremely well written.  Highly recommended...:-)

A quick list of the order I think they should be played/read in. Comics in Bold.

Evolution, Revelation, Mass Effect 1, Ascension, start Mass Effect 2 and after the opening section pause and read Redemption. Continue playing Mass Effect 2.

Lastly read Retribution.

" Would it be a waste of time, since I already completed ME1/2?" (I cant figure out how to quote anymore)

Not at all.  The novels are storys of their own.  The first book is the Saren/Anderson story that Shep trys to get Anderson to tell him/her about in ME1. It really shows why Anderson is so hell bent on getting Saren in ME1.  The second and third book will give you  insight to the way Cerberus actually works and how TIM thinks. I didnt mind Cerberus that much till I read the last two books.

Read them! Reading a book is never a waste of time especially when it's for a franchise you love. Read this to see what I mean

I got Revelation a couple of days ago and I'm already half way through it. I'm loving it! It's got an exciting story,  lots more characterization of Anderson and Saren, and introduces  interesting new characters.

I'll definately get the others when I have:  a.) the time and b.) the money.

Thanks, that list helps a bunch.

Looks like I'll have a lot of reading to do during my summer break.

Just finished Revelation last night.

It was a great read. It was interesting seeing how Saren became exposed to Sovereign in the first place.

Thanks again for the recommendations.

Now on to Ascension...
