JRPGS

Why don't I like them but love the RPG genre my firt jrpg was final fantasy XIII back when it released on the 360 i hear my friends speak on how amazing xenoblade is and that i should buy it but with my experience with FFXIII it has pretty much killed any intrest in jrpgs but don't know why i was really frustrated when it came to the battle system some times i would fail so many times before advancing that i pretty much didnt have any fun and pretty much quit and never return to it my ? is are all jrpgs the same.

Final fantasy is not a good measure of Jrpgs. The Xeno games are good, give them a shot.

"Eternal Sonata" remains one of the prettiest games on the XBox 360 to this day.

Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey...there are a couple good JRPGs on the 360. FF13 is probably one of the worst this generation...

I enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII, but there are far better JRPG's on the 360.

I think a good JRPG to start with is Infinite Undiscovery as it has real time combat.

I second Tales of Vesperia, even though The Tales series might not be the best representation for JRPGs, but it definitely hits closer to home than FFXIII, as people mentioned, FFXIII is not a good measure for a good JRPG.

JRPGs are over rated, I played  quite a few and people get all over them for a still unknown reason, some of course are better then others but so far all of them feel very dated. some have very interesting stories though. I like the direction Dragons Dogma took, it was fun gameplay wise but had a somewhat unique story and atmosphere, it needed to be bigger though or have co-op.

If pokemon games from the old gameboy/gameboy advanced  are considered a JRPG then it is by far the best ones, for how old those games are, how long they lasted, and on hand helds the games were packed with content and a blast to play on long car rides.

[/quote]This is the same guy(among others) who said the gameplay systems for morrowind and Dragon Age were bad despite them being tried and true RPG.Hedoesn;t like anything that isn;t action based or has too much reading.

they are outdated systems so please, keep making stuff up, there is a reason they didn't use the same system in oblivion or skyrim, get this, a new generation meant they could move on, iirc all RPGs were turn based back in the day, as tech improved, gameplay improved, some still cling to turn based but they add other elements ( lost oddessy did this with the formation thing they had). but most are moving on.

but please, I know you are buthurt, but calm down.

I say it's unknown because,  people play some JRPGs and love them like the tales series, there is nothing special about it. I played tales of vesperia and tales of symphonia, yea it had an interesting story, and  the combat was fun sometimes, but  it was nothing amazing, other then the main story there wasn't much else to do granted the main stories were pretty long. the games feel a bit dated though it's like they improve much slower then western games like you can see the ungodly obvious jump from morrowind, to oblivion, to skyrim, but tales of symphonia and vesperia felt the same, and I have a feeling whenever I get tales of graces f (wtf is the f for)  it will feel about the same as well.

haven't played eternal sonata yet, I hear that is good, and I want to try monster hunter but the only one I know of in english is on the wii and not messing with that.

@US Revenge- Do you understand that your opinion is not fact? I am forced to ask because you often talk like you don't get that simple truth. I'm being 100% sincere, no insult intended.

.

Btw I'm not a fan of Jrpgs really, I just know that they appeal to lots of people because they enjoy them. There's no further explanation needed.
