Xbox.Com Message Limit

Hello. My name is Rob and I work on a competitive gaming website called GameBattles. We have several million registered usernames, and around half a million played matches every month. If you would like to see the website, it can be found here: www.gamebattles.com

As a Customer Service Representative on the website, one of the things that I do is go into private matches as a referee and help both teams resolve any issues they're having in their matches. In order to do this, I need to get in contact with both teams over Xbox Live. I do this over xbox.com by sending a copy/paste message explaining that there is a match issue in their GameBattles match and they should invite me to their game so I can hear their side of the story.

I often message dozens of people in a day in order to complete my work on GameBattles. I find myself often hitting the daily message limit on Xbox.com of messages I can send to people not on me friends list. I have heard in the past of special cases where this message limit can be removed from the account. I was wondering if this was possible.

The messages I send often take the following format, which you can check if you look into my sent messages in the past several weeks (or past two years, for that matter):

Hello. This is Rob from GameBattles staff. We have been contacted about a ____ issue for your recent match. Please send me an invite to your room so we can discuss your side of the story. I can only wait 5 minutes.

The messages are only sent to users that sign up on our website by themselves and schedule matches. We remove gamertags from profiles if we are sent a support ticket that states they were put on a profile without permission of the gamertag owner, and we ban the person who placed the gamertag on the account from our site. These messages are not spam, and are actually very helpful to the competitive gaming community. There are several messages that I have received in the past, which I'm sure you can look at, of users thanking me for helping them with their matches.

You can see that I am an actual GameBattles Customer Service Representative, as my gamertag is listed on the following support page: http://gamebattles.com/staff/cs/

I contacted Xbox Support at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and they stated that I should message you on the forums. My reference number from Xbox Support is: 1159199068.

Let me know if you need any other information.

Xbox phone support usually doesn't handle these kind of issues well, but it's not a glitch nor a problem. It's to reduce spamming, so they limit messaegs on Xbox.com. You can suggest an update to DMZilla and see if he increases the amount of messages able to be sent from Xbox.com

Well, it's less of needing a website update and more of needing the restriction specifically listed off my account. I know that it can be done (was done for a co-worker a long time ago). I just don't know the process they used to go about changing it. I completely understand why its in place, and wouldn't want anti-spamming features taken off of Xbox Live, but I think that I can easily demonstrate through my message history and other information that I provided that I have a valid reason for needing to send out more than the usual number of messages, and that the messages I send are both wanted by and helpful to the people I sent them to.

I understand, but for now your console seems to be the only solution to sending messages.

If I am not mistaken, if I am someone please correct me, but if you have the Messenger enabled on the console you should be able to use the Messenger on your PC to send your messages to the players without limit. (I'll try this myself later and see if it does indeed work)

Unfortunately, that only works (at least as far as I could tell) if I know the Windows Live Messenger account of the person I am communicating with. That isn't possible, as we do not require our users to use a Windows Live Messenger account. We can only contact them over Xbox Live by using their gamertag.

@Original Colton - Tweeted DMZilla, no help.

Guess I'm going back to sending voice messages, which kind of sucks. Had hoped for more support of a website keeping thousands of people subscribed to Xbox Live and playing video games, especially since our site is so big that we have a playlist with our gametypes/maps in Halo: Reach, the biggest Xbox exclusive title yet.

Thanks for trying to help.

Same problem, I think the daily message limit is 150. That's far to low, it should be at least 500-1000.

If you have 100 friends you can only message them all once a day for fun activities like asking friends to play games. Kind of takes away from the fun of owning a Xbox. They should really up the limit or remove it completely.

If you are sending 150 msgs a day your spaming

In situations like that ylu use social media liie forums looking for friends or clans or apps specfic to the game you are playing

I have 50 people on my friends list do i msg them every day nope

I ask one or two if they have the game listed on their profile and ask nicely

Ssnding people random msgs could earn you an report for harrassment or spaming if you arent careful

@op wouldnt it be more practical to post a forum msg for that specific game like have a post in your actual website saying for example if you have an issue with your match please post a ticket on this forum

Thats how most gaming websitss handles things
