Keep getting disconnected

I was hoping someone would have an answer to this...

Every time I try and edit my profile from my Xbox, I get disconnected from Xbox Live. I can play games online fine, but when I try and change my gamertag I instantly get disconnected. Anyone know how to fix this? if it helps, I have a closed NAT and WPA2 personal encryption. Any help would be great,.

Your NAT needs to be open for all the XBL functions to work. Read this thread, forums.xbox.com/.../9.aspx , and post back the answers to the questions and we can approach opening your NAT with you.

Modem brand & model number: not sure the difference between router and modem :) have airport express and fios

Network Connection Type: Wireless/Wired Wireless

If Wireless, what type of encryption are you using? WPA2 personal

Things you have tried: making an open MAC port

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown unknown

Is NAT Type Open? no

Any Error Codes you encounter:

What type of internet do you have? Cable/DSL/T1/3G? No idea...

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Verizon?

When you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" what is the exact message shown on screen? Closed NAT- some functions of XBL may not work, you may not be able to chat or play with other players with closed NAT.

If you don't know the difference post back all of it, the FiOS service uses a gateway which is a modem with router functions, and the airport has router functions, meaning both of them have to be configured to get around their firewalls.

To do that we'd need to know both the model and make of each of them, post it back and we can sort out which is which :)

Umm, well yes and no. That is the information related to your Airport - namely it's unique ID number that can track it anywhere and it's verion number.

What is known already here is that your Airport is a router, we need to know what kind of unit you were given by Verizon. It will have a brand and model number on it.  If it doesn't then you can call Verizon and they should know what they supplied to you.

first of all closed nat is bad, you want your nat to be open.

I have fios and i had a lot of issues until i changed my router settings

what i did works really well, try to find a thread for your specific router or try to do what i did.

these settings worked really well for me

Starting six weeks ago, I'll be watching Netflix and a message pop up that I am disconnected from Xbox live. I log back in watch for a while and it happen again. It also happens when I watch a DVD. Intgeresting!
