Changing invalid security mail adress

I want to add Microsoft Points on my account, but my computer is not registered on my account. So it asks me to enter the code I received on my security mail adress. But, this adress is no longer valid. So I can't check the code, confirm my new computer, nor add MSpoints to my account.

I delete my security informations and add my new email adress, but they ask me again to enter a code... sent to my invalid/old email adress.

How can I confirm my new security mail adress without using the previous one, that is now unavailable... ? Or can I set my account mail adress as the new security mail adress ?

Thank you for your help

hello exyt42, sorry to hear about your security issue.  Please use the website live.com and sign in there with your xbox credentials, change the WLID  and then try again for security.  FYI it's just NOT a good idea to use an email account on your Gamertag that is unuseable for communications.

Sorry dude if you don't have access to that alternative email you'll need to cancel them by managing them under account.live.com. You'll have to wait a good while though (around 4-6 months) for the emails to erased. If it is a fake email maybe you could try to go make that email.

Hello,

You will need to follow some very specific instructions below to go to the customer support Windows Live account recovery:

1. Click on this link.
2. Click on the third option:  I Think Someone Else is using my Windows Live ID.
3. Select Reset your Password option .
4. Enter the Windows Live account you are trying to recover.
5. Enter the characters you see on the picture, and then tick on Next.
6. Click on Customer Support.
7. When a highlighted Customer support phrase appears, tick on it.
8. Re-enter the Windows Live account you are trying to recover.
9. Enter your alternate email address. ( Active email address that you have access to even if it's not associated with the account )
10. Click on Continue.
11. Validate your identity by providing as much information as you can on the Recover your Windows Live account page then click on Continue to submit.
12. A page that says Your information has been submitted will appear, (just wait for the result of the account recovery request on your alternate email address)

Note: To pass the validation process, you will need to provide as much precise information as possible. The more accurate your information is, the more likely you are to pass validation.

This will essentially move your non working WLID to the new one that you'd like to be contacted on. This does require that you follow the instructions up top and fill in as much information as you can in the form that is sent to your alternate e-mail.

Thanks all for your answers.

Table24: I didn't really understand your last sentence (i'm french and don't perfectly understand english ;) ). My WLID is also my WL Messenger adress, so I don't want to change it. Moreover, the security mail adress was available. It was linked to my mobile phone number (the same company: Orange). And when I change it, my email adress has been desactivated. And I didn't remember that my WL security mail adress was this one (Orange). So I forgot changing it before.  (it's not very clear, isn't it?)

Pibbie: I think i have to do that... To wait 6 months... "dommage". I wanted to change this information to add MSpoints with my new computer. Finally, I've added points with my other computer.

Hassassinade: I don't really want to give private and secured informations... I know it's a secured page, but I don't want to take any risk. So I'm not sure it would work.

Moreover, I don't think it's the right thing to do: I don't want to recover my WLID... It's the email adress used when the computer is not recognized (the security informations). So I hope that the thing you told me to do won't change my WLID or my password...

The problem is that I can't confirm my new security mail adress because It sends a confimation code to the one I want to replace... It would solve the problem if it would send this confirmation code to my main mail adress, my WLID (hotmail adress).

Thank you again for your help.

Unfortunately, my problem is not yet resolved... :/

The way that I told you to do it would change the e-mail associated with the account completely, you would need to contact Windows Live Help via their forum if the problem your facing is replacing your security question, but they might also tell you to go through those same exact instructions I posted up top. This is their link so you can go make a post: answers.microsoft.com/.../liveid-signin

Just want to pipe in here: Have you reviewed the support content on these security proofs? Before you post in the windows live forum make sure you've reviewed how to 'Add and update the security info for your Microsoft account' and 'Get help with your Microsoft account security proofs'. If you still have issues I would agree with Hassassinade's suggestion to post in the live id forum! :)
