No Sound from Internet Explorer/ Sound from Media player ok with USB speakers and without -

Please can anyone help.... I'm running Vista Home premium, on a Toshiba Sat Pro A200 series. I've run diagnostics and every other thing I can think of..... I can get good sounds playing anything through Media Player... But no sounds from Internet Explorer... makes no difference with or without USB speakers. Have upgraded to IE 8 from IE 7  -  no difference made.

It is possible that Internet Explorer has been selectively muted in the Volume Mixer.
 
To check this:

Open Internet Explorer, preferably to a page that should be playing some sound.

Click on the volume icon in the windows system tray (in the right-hand lower corner of the taskbar), and then click on the link labeled "Mixer".

A panel will open showing the individual volume levels of all running apps that play sounds (you may need to scroll to the right to see all of them).

Make sure that the volume level belonging to Internet Explorer is not set to mute.

Please let us know if this solves the problem.

I've just experienced this problem but fortunately managed to resolve it easily. I had guitar pro running which was playing sound normaly and ie wasn't when running simultaneously.I closed down gp and ie worked as normal.I haven't experienced this before with these two programs but I would suggest if your having this problem try closing all unecessary programs and restart ie.
