Windows 8 Refresh Made Me Lose Microsoft Office and ALL of my other programs!

I downloaded Windows 8 onto my Toshiba Satellite and the previous iOS was Windows 7. The install was slowing my computer down, so I did the System Refresh. Bad idea!!! I chose to keep my settings and personal files, but it deleted ALL of my programs and I can't put them back. My Microsoft Office was deleted and I can't re-install it from the disc! I am getting an Error 25033!! HELP!!! I need MS Office for my online classes!! How do I put my programs back???? The removed apps are on my desk top in a folder! I need them back on my computer where they were!!!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! Everything is changed around on my computer and I wish I had NEVER installed Windows 8!!!

well, if you would stop being so high and mighty --  a lot of us had new computers with software already factory installed ( word, Skype, etc).   we did not install it from discs and the only reason some of us did a REFRESH was because we were told to.   I had lost my Yahoo Mail app after doing a software  update.  I was told that if I did a REFRESH I would get the app back and not lose anything except apps that I installed from discs, etc.   ......  NOT --  oh yes, the yahoo mail app is back --  but everything else is gone.   no word, no Skype....
Sounds like you just didn't understand what would happen and what certain things were defined as (windows store apps, what desktop apps were pre-installed by the OEM, etc.) but now you are no longer ignorant of these facts and installing these items should be rather trivial.

Microsoft Word came pre-installed on your Windows 8 (not Windows RT) system?

If so that just means that the OEM (the manufacturer/assembler of the system) installed it (from disc, etc.) - it's still "installed from something other than the Windows Store".  Sure - *you* didn't do it - but neither did Microsoft - so the REFRESH would not include it.  Ask the manufacturer how you get Microsoft Office back (if it was included and wasn't just a trial?)

Skype is also basically a desktop app.  Just because your OEM also pre-installed it doesn't make it something that wasn't installed via something other than the Windows Store.  http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-windows8/
