Your account's primary alias appears on Microsoft devices, such as the Windows 8 PC, Xbox, or phone.
https://account.live.com/Names/Manage << this page shows your primary alias and you can rename it there.. this page also has the sub alias names used on it and you can remove them or add new ones .... to that primary alias.
The margin on that page allows you to delete the primary.. maybe delete the other alias names before deleting the primary.
Microsoft Bob came back after a 20 year makeover, and with a new name. Cortana!

I already know of this page, that's why I made the reference to them needing to reset my allowed yearly limit for creating/deleting a alias account, it was used up during diagnostics by a Microsoft staff member, they removed a alias, then I had to re-add it, I am not allowed to have any more aliases for one year. The only way to make use of my current name on another email address in less then a year is to rename my current email. When my current email address becomes a secondary account alias, I can remove it. This will stop all emails going to that address from reaching my inbox. however during this 30 day wait period, no one can use this name or claim it from me. Once 30 days is up, I can re-name a completely separate account I have into that desired name. There by securing it from anyone else using it. The likelihood of someone else claiming my address on exactly 30 days from the day I removed it is remote. I do not want to just delete the Microsoft account completely as it would take up to a full year to be able to use this name. Also, I currently have a 25GB skydrive, that I do not want to lose. So the fastest way to test my hypothesis is if a Microsoft Account specialist can reset my alias limit per year, and allow me to do a rename. This will trigger their servers to remove it from the malfunctioning alias, and allow me to reuse it on a completely separate account, much faster then waiting a full year after closing it, and hoping no-one else has claimed it, and it would mean loosing my skydrive account which is grandfathered into the 25Gb limit, I do not want to lose this. All these problems started to occur during that most recent update to outlook.com, namely multi-alias sign in. That is when my account began to malfunction.
When signing into the desktop skydrive application it displays an error http://sdrv.ms/ZL4FsE This is the app that can run on windows 7 or the desktop of windows 8. It tells me to sign into skydrive from a browser, yet when I do, it behaves normally and I can log in fine, no error messages. I believe this is due to a problem of my outlook email address being associated with its former name, my old Hotmail address that I renamed into this, then removed months ago. The alias is no longer exists, and can not be signed in with.
