Windows 7 Black screen with cursor hangs

Hi,
Windows 7 automatically uploaded some updates and now when pc (sony vioa) boots in goes into menu with 1. Windows repair or 2. Start as normal.  Neither option works and the screen goes black, cursor appears after about 2mins and then pc hangs (does nothing).  I can't start Repair or recover and can not seem to do anything at all. Even sytem disk will not start.
Help please!

Answer
Ian-mi,
If you are not able to boot with any option from the Advanced startup options.  Then you need to see if you are able to boot with the recovery media (either dvd or disk partition) that came with the PC.  You can try the repair options first, from the recovery media.  If those don't help then you may need to re-install.
