Cursor erratic and impossible to control

I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my Lenovo laptop. Since then, the cursor has become increasingly erratic and jumps about to the point that I literally cannot do anything, regardless of whether I use the mouse or the touchpad. I've managed to close it down to restart it ( - took the best part of an hour to achieve that!) but nothing's changed. Damn this upgrade. Wish I'd never agreed to it. Please help!

 Hi,

Thank You for posting in Microsoft community.

-Have you installed the latest touchpad drivers from Lenovo support site?

Method 1:

Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter to troubleshoot the device:

a. Press Windows key to launch the Start screen.

b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

c. In the new window, click View all on the left pane.

d. In the list of options, click on Hardware and devices.

e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2:

Press windows key + X,

Click Control Panel> click Hardware> and then click Mouse.

Click the  Pointer Options tab, and then do the following:

-Uncheck the Hide pointer while typing box. (give in steps)

Method 3:

Adjust Sensitivity of Touch Pad

1. Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
 2. Select Hardware and Sound option.
 3. Under Devices and Printers, select Mouse.
 4. When the Mouse Properties window appears, click the Pointer Options tab.
 5. Under Select a pointer speed, click to move the slider bar closer to Slow.
 6. Verify that the Enhance pointer precision checkbox is checked.
 7. Click OK.

Hope it helps.

Reply us back with the update of the issue.

Thank you.

Thank you for getting back to me. However, method 1 makes no sense whatsoever. I type Troubleshooting and it just takes me directly to an internet search. The other two methods make little difference.

I didn't download anything from Lenovo because it's not something that would have occurred to me. Now I cannot do it because controlling the cursor to get that far is impossible. Basically, it keeps jumping back to the bottom of the screen and opening random things.

I'm pretty annoyed that I've been duped into being a guinea pig for this incomplete version of Windows when I had finally managed to make my peace with Windows 8. Now it seems I'm going to have to spend money on having an engineer sort my laptop out for me which I can ill-afford at the moment.

This is the final straw for me. I doubt very much I will make the mistake of investing in a Windows operating system again.

I just want to let you know, I have managed to revert back to Windows 8 and the problem seems to have gone away so I'm going to stick with that for the time being.

I probably didn't seem too grateful yesterday. I really do appreciate your response.

However, as I said, I wish Microsoft would get its products right. All we want is a reliable, relatively user-friendly operating system that we don't have to pay the earth for. I think many of us mortals were quite content with Windows XP. We don't all desire Apple's singing-dancing bonanza.

I bought an ASUS laptop a few months ago from Best Buy and purchased the Geek Squad tech support.  I've taken the laptop into them several times as well as using their on-line service to try to figure out this same problem.  My problem was prior to updating to Windows 10.  Possibly if I had seen this forum before the upgrade, the problem could have been resolved.  Unfortunately, I made the mistake of upgrading before the problem was resolved.  I know that the updates from ASUS are current.  I've tried your method 3 a while ago, making the touch pad at the least sensitivity.  Just tried the Method 2 "Click the  Pointer Options tab, and then do the following:

-Uncheck the Hide pointer while typing box. (give in steps)"

That did help quite a bit.  It didn't totally resolve the problem but made it a little more bearable.  Instead of the cursor jumping every other word, it let me type almost a whole paragraph before starting to jump again.  I'm open to any suggestions to make it go away completely.

I have tried all of the tips from all of the forums (including ALL of the ones on here!) and nothing seems to work!! I have Sony VAIO Fit and running Windows 10 (I'm also not tech advanced so that's all I really know). I have checked and unchecked all the recommended boxes and bits in properties tabs and installed Touchfreeze several times, run the troubleshooter, checked the drivers and even rolled them back and have rebooted my PC many times... to no avail. The cursor has a complete mind of it's own. Even as I'm typing this it keeps opening links on the page and closing things and moving the page and other very annoying things... all since the Windows 10 upgrade????
It does seems to keep jumping to the same consistent location (which changes from time to time but then remains clicking to the new location)....?? Please help, is this a Windows Bug? Or a driver issue?
I tried finding the driver for a Sony VAIO Fit in Australia but with no success

PLEASE HELP
