Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

To understand the issue better, I would need more information from your
end.

  1. What exactly you are trying to perform? Are you trying to press shift key on keyboard while Caps Lock is on and type normal letters?
  2. If yes, what exactly you mean by "cannot find the switch in windows 10 tp"?
  3. What is the make and model of the computer and keyboard?

Come on GB what is complicated about

"I want to use the shift key to release the caps lock"????

Found it!!!

Y'all are finding clever places to hide these options.

It was buried in W7 and now that ppl have figured out where it is u moved it to an even more obscure place in W8 and W10.

It is a KEYBOARD function - wouldn't ya think it should be under KEYBOARD.

When it becomes easier to do a registry hack then find the option, that might be a clue that u messed something up, ya think.

To change default "Press the CAPS LOCK key" to release caps lock to Press shift key clk the following:

>rt clk Start

>Control Panel
>Language
>Advanced settings

About the third option down (switching input methods)  in Blue font there is an option to
>change language bar hot keys
click that and a pop up window opens
Under the tab
>Advanced Key Settings
To turn off Caps lock select "Press the shift key"

I just wonder why Microsoft is so eager to hide this extremely useful setting away, WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEFAULT SINCE THE FIRST VERSION!

Thank you to Ruggb for sharing I have been looking for it since I chnged my computer to Windows 10.

Thanks for this hint, they do a good job at trying to drive us nuts with that kind of hide and seek games ...

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this. Could they possibly have found a more obscure place to hide this setting?!

Thank you for posting the answer! We never would have gotten it from a microsoft representative. Why are Microsoft help pages the least helpful thing in the world? It's always..."Could we get further clarification" or a redirect to somewhere else where the question isn't actually answered, or they tell you to try something incredibly simple that everybody has known how to do since windows 3.1.

Thank you so much!! I was going crazy trying to find this. You are right - they could not have hidden it any better if that had been their intention!
