Windows 8.1 update failing to configure, revert back changes

I've been trying to update windows 8.1 with the latest update KB2919355. Every time I tried to do so, it download and install successful, prompting a restart. While restarting, the screen configuring windows update was shown, which takes quite a while. However, when it reaches 99% or somewhere there, it will indicate "failure to configure windows update, revert changes". After that, the update is rollback and KB2919355 is not installed.

Ive tried this 6 times so far, each taking 2 hours for the whole process.

To try to resolve it, I've tried uninstalling my antivirus, change my user from windows live to local, tried the cmd method, tried the standalone update download, all to no avail.

My laptop is currently running windows 8.1 64bit. It was upgraded from windows 7 previously. It has all prior windows updates, including the prerequisite, installed correctly.

I do not know what else I can to install this update. Please help.

SOLUTION

Thanks! I managed to find the solution!

Apparently, there's not enough space in my 100mb reserved partition. To solve this issue, I used minitool partition wizard to increase that partition to about 600+mb, tried updating again, and success!!!

Somewhere somehow there's got to be a answer to this particular update failing.

Pay particular attention to any comments by Susan Bradley.
