Unfortunately skype has stopped

Hi, after a long time waiting  for any change, am posting  this again.

I have Asus zenfone 2.

Yes Ive maid everything  from removing  and installing it again, to deleting  data and even wiping  everything from the phone.

Yes I have a newer version of android: 6.0.1.

Ive tried everything  that can be done.

I kinda  use this app a lot, and I don't  wanna use a non trustworthy apk.

Please either  to intervene  or at least provide an official skype 7 to the public until this is sorted out.

Hello mjidazer,

Welcome to the Skype Community forum! Thank you so much for letting us know about this.

Are you getting any error messages? If you see a "Sorry we couldn't connect to Skype", "Skype can't connect" or "Unable to receive notifications" message when you try to use Skype, the most likely cause is a poor internet connection, or no internet connection.

To try to fix this issue, kindly refer to the steps in this link: Mobile connectivity troubleshooting

I hope this helps. Should you have further queries, please do not hesitate to reply to this post.

Thank you.

I have the same experience.

Things are working with the latest Skype 7.

It's when I (we) use Skype 8 on Zenfone 2 that it crashes all the time.

The moments are unpredictable. Sometimes it crashes before logging in.

And when at times I was lucky enough to log in, it would crash on subsequent steps, e.g. choosing theme or allowing Skype to read my contacts or allowing it to access the phone's camera and so on.

On rare chances, I did get to see the chat list. Not for long, though. It's soon crashed again.

All with the same message, i.e. the title of this thread.

Again, everything is fine when we use Skype 7.

My Zenfone 2 is of ZE551ML model, that has Android M on it.

I need to add new info. Finally I was able to chat with a support person.

The conclusion is: Skype 8 is not supported on Intel based smartphones.

Several variants of Zenfone 2, e.g. ZE551ML, use Intel processors.

This means I can't use Skype 8 on my phone.

Below is a part of the conversation with the support person, to make things clearer.

So, whose fault is it--Microsoft's or Google's--that the aforementioned Asus phone ever received this "upgrade" in the first place?

Surely it's possible to have a blacklist of models not to be upgraded.
