When is the Acompli Ios / Android Outlook going to be allowed?

My organization enforces email policy, such as encrypting email transmission end-to-end.  We use hosted outlook.office365.com and currently do not allow the Acompli based Ios and Android Outlook apps to connect.

I just tried on an Iphone yesterday and got the message, Your mobile device has been denied access to the server because of server policies.

The email body reads as follows. I'm guessing Acompli/Outlook mobile for Android and Ios isn't updated yet. Any idea when it will?

Here's the message:

Your device won't be able to synchronize with the server via Exchange ActiveSync because of an access policy defined on the server.

Information about your device:

Device model: Outlook for iOS and Android
Device type: Outlook
Device ID: 4A368AC60657B4CA
Device OS: Outlook for iOS and Android 1.0
Device user agent: Outlook-iOS-Android/1.0
Device IMEI:
Exchange ActiveSync version: 14.1
Device access state: Blocked
Device access state reason: DeviceRule

Hi Kai,

Based on the error message, the admin of your organization may have set up some Exchange ActiveSync polices for managing mobile devices. For more information, please refer to Exchange ActiveSync policies for managing devices in Office 365

Note: there is an option to block all email apps except Outlook for iOS and Android and the Mail apps for Windows devices. See Enabling Outlook for iOS and Android in Exchange Online

Please check this with your admin and share the update with us.

Thanks,

Lance

Um, Lance. I appreciate you trying to help.

However, you may have missed the part of my original post stating, "My organization enforces email policy, such as encrypting email transmission end-to-end.  We use hosted outlook.office365.com and currently do not allow the Acompli based Ios and Android Outlook apps to connect. "

IOTW, yes, we block the two Acompli based apps because they do not conform with the secure transmission of cached email.  As stated here - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt684948%28v=exchg.160%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 - the app caches mailbox data in AWS and outside the Microsoft secure cloud of Outlook.Office365.com

<quote>

For improved performance, a subset of email, calendar, and file data from each user's mailbox is cached in the Outlook service. Because the app is based on Microsoft's recent acquisition of Acompli, the service currently runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We are moving the Outlook service to Office 365, and plan to have that move completed soon.

</quote>

My question is then - when is MS going to update Acompli to not use AWS and instead use O365 email.

Wow, that's an interesting read. Now, wonder if there's been any movement. I love the WUP Outlook app on my Windows Mobile and Android devices. Would love to use it with my work email on my Android phone.

Done.

As of today (July 13), Acompli is now fully Outlook and supports encrypted email, which allows my company to use it.
