The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Hello,

Today an exclamation mark appeared on outlook 2013 desktop client and it was completely disconnected, used to work fine yesterday and earlier, however, I thought it is something to do with settings, so I removed all profiles and data files from control panel and wanted to create the profile again per godaddy instructions:

https://www.godaddy.com/help/outlook-manually-configure-email-9011

However, i'm receiving this error after configuring all settings:

---------------------------
Microsoft Outlook
---------------------------
The action cannot be completed.  The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

i'm using windows 10 x64 pro and outlook 2013 is fully updated, as far as I recall, yesterday a new update has been applied to outlook 2013, not sure if it broke something or the exchange server is down, could you please check.

Thanks

Answer

Hi Chris,

Thanks for trying to help, finally I was able to know the cause and fix it, I recently uninstalled VMware workstation, and it messed up windows DNS, so I found a solution to reregister it with these commands:

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

NETSH winsock reset catalog

NETSH int ipv4 reset reset.log

NETSH int ipv6 reset reset.log

and now everything is working properly.

Thanks
