Build 17063 new Known Issues

Three new Known Issues added to the blog

for Build 17063.

  • ADDED 12/21: While navigating through OOBE, some of the buttons in the pages may not display correctly. In case of running into this, use the keyboard and tab forward through the page’s controls, or hover over blank areas of the screen and buttons will be rendered in the process. This should unblock you and allow you to continue through the OOBE flow.
  • ADDED 12/21: We are investigating reports that Windows shows that it “needs activation” and trying to activate fails after upgrading to Build 17063.
  • ADDED 12/21: Audio may not work in certain apps like Firefox after upgrading to Build 17063.

I'm seeing the "needs activation" issue. Since I'm running the Insider preview in a virtual machine, I have VM files of both before and after.

Before:

After:

Reloading the 17046 copy and letting it update again gets the same issue.

I think Microsoft needs to comment about the audio problem also being in Microsoft applications like Edge, IE and the Windows 10 Inside Preview Build 17063 Media Player. To say that the audio issues is with certain apps like Firefox is very misleading. The audio issue appears to be more widespread than Microsoft wishes to acknowledge. The audio doesn't work on my laptop in any of the above mentioned application as well as VLC, iTunes or the Store downloaded Netflix application.

People who come up with acronyms like OOBE should be tied to a stake and made to memorize 1000 such names.  They shouldn't be untied until they pass a test where they get 99% answered correctly!  Then maybe they'll have a bit better perspective. ;)

Experiencing similar. No sound from windows apps. Facebook web videos have sound but YouTube, won't even run videos on Edge. Only  beeps/boops from such things as keyboard lock. Drivers reset, uninstalled, reinstall, trouble shooters ran. On a Surface Pro 2, so should be no external vendor  driver etc. issues. Last option a clean install, but will wait till next flight. Will see if that helps.….
