Installing Windows 10 on the Nextbook 10.1 that is on sale at walmart.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS MAY NOT WORK.

THIS REQUIRES THAT YOUR TABLET HAVE A POGO KEYBOARD THAT DOESN'T USE A BLUETOOTH OR USB CONNECTION

BE SURE TO CREATE A RECOVERY USB DRIVE.

Here are a few things that you will need.

Two 4GB USB thumb drives.

One of these: Micro USB Adapter

and this zip file of drivers:  Non-Microsoft Drivers for NextBook 10.1

The first thing I recommend that you do is create a recovery drive using the recovery drive utility in Windows 8.1; use one of the usb drives.  Once that is done you will need to download the 32 bit iso of Windows 10 and then unzip onto the second thumb drive.  Once that is done unzip the drivers onto the second thumb drive as well.

Once that is done you will need to go to pc settings from the side menu and choose the recovery options.  Choose boot from usb drive.  Once the installer has loaded you will need to do a custom install and format the install drive.  It will take about 15 minutes for it to install.  Once Windows 10 is installed you won't have access to your sd card, wifi, bluetooth, and touch interface among other things.  Once you have logged in go to the device manager and then scroll down to where you see I2c controller, it should have a warning triangle on it.  Right click on it and choose update driver and then browse for driver.  Point the update manager to the usb drive and it will find the driver.   There will be several unknown devices that you will need to do the same with.  Once you have updated all of them you will have full access to everything again.

Everything you need for the Nextbook 10.1 can be found on my site. the sensor.7z file contains a registry file which will, after reboot, fix the orientation sensor.

sensor.7z contains the orientation sensor driver and registry config. Run the EXE, then run the reg file, then reboot.

chipset.rar contains the processor and chipset drivers. This enables the SD Card, Touch panel, and other various system resources. Extract, then navigate to ww30PV-with-LED\mrd7-pv-ww30-led\ww30\DriverPackage\Installer\PlatformInstaller\ and run setup.exe.

wifi.rar contains the wifi driver

bluetooth.rar contains the bluetooth driver

These drivers will work on Windows 8.1 and 10.

Thanks for your hard work, but can you explain how you got your Nextbook to boot from USB or sd?

My Nextbook (model NXW10QC32G) will not let me boot from usb (using OTG cable) or sd card. I have made FAT32 bootable versions of each, and they work fine on another computer. They are both recognized from within Windows 8.1 for reading, but they are not recognized for purposes of booting.

The only way I could enter the BIOS was to press Esc on startup, or by using the Setup Utility from within Windows 8.1. Having done that, I expected to be able to change the order of devices that the computer booted from. No such luck!

I have USB Boot enabled, and WIndows 8 Fast Boot disabled

The EFI options listed are Windows Boot Manager and Windows Recovery but I cannot change those or add to them.

In the Secure Boot Options, all options are disabled.

Is there some special key combination? I've tried all the Function keys and Power + Vol-up and Vol-down as suggested by some.

If anyone can give precise steps, I would be very grateful.......

Format the usb media using FAT32 format with no disk image. Manually transfer the contents of the iso onto the usb media then go to pc settings from the side menu and choose the recovery options.  Choose boot from usb drive, it should then run the setup that was moved to the usb media

I have the same issue with the screen flipping the wrong way.  Fortunately it's a minor inconvenience having to keep the rotation locked.  It would be nice to have a fix.

See the reply from Russell Hande on March 30 above. If you run the registry fix he posted on his site in sensor.7z the problem goes away.
