Skype for Business crashes upon USB device usage

I can call and use Skype for business on my laptop, with the default audio device. But when I plug in my BT 600 (Plantronics 8200) the client crashes.

This just recently surfaced after an update, so I was wondering if a previously known bug was re-introduced as I have seen older posts on the same subject.

My setup is a Windows 10 prerelease 17063 with Office c2r 16.0.8730

Kind regards,

Lasse

Here is a solution that worked for me:

  1. Go to Device Manager.
  2. Right-click the HID-compliant headset under Human Interface Devices.
  3. Click Update Driver.
  4. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
  5. Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
  6. Click Have Disk.
  7. Click Browse, and then select C:\windows\inf\input.inf.
  8. Select HID-Compliant Headset.
  9. Click Next.

I have the exact same issue with my BT600 and PLT focus as well as a coworker.  I also have the same issue with my Jabra speak 510 USB speakerphone.  My SFB will crash as soon as I try to make a call.  I reverted back to a non-prerelease version of Windows 10 and all is good.  It seems to be an issue.  My version of windows was:

17063_rs_prerelease.171213-1610
