Video games consoles domination is crumbling - article

What do you think about this article?

I really think the problem is that some consoles are focusing only in certain type of gamers but aren't crumbling IMO ; they are just losing their  appeal . IMHO.

its not that they are losing theyr appeal its just that the PC that you need to play most games is alot cheaper then it was before so people dont mind going PC as much.

If there is any truth in this then the bottom line is...price. Many, many people purchase games for their tablets or Iphones etc. because of the comparison of price to console games. More so now since EA bring about their daft Online Passport, and others are following Little Bo Peep.

They are alienating the average consumer - I have just posted about the prices on Games On Demand. The greed is unreal, and naturally a lot of people resort to downloading an App and playing a simple, cheap, addictive game such as Angry Birds for example. Nowhere near as good as a quality console game granted, however, a significant portion of the consumer base are forced to make sacrifices.

Unless they bring in some sort of pricing stabilizer, I can only imagine more and more once "very keen" gamers becoming more casual and opting for the simplistic, cost effective approach to Application and Social Networking games.

Yea b/c every game these days is made for casuals, AKA dumbing it down, AKA holding the industry back.

I shudder when I hear about "disc-less consoles", and "streaming games" for two reasons.

1. Many game stores, big and small, will be wiped out and replaced by a few services dominating the distribution industry. So much for price matching, store credit, and the used games market.

2. Not a big fan of buying a product I don't physically own. If my system gets knocked over, or if my HD fries itself one day, I'm SOL.

PC is where it's at... You spend $800 to play gorgeous HD versions of your 360 games at a 30% discount using the 360 controller.

And then on PC you have to update constantly to get those great graphics.

I use to do all my gaming on PC and I couldn't afford it. I'll gladly pay 10 extra dollars per new release and not have to spend several thousand dollars a year on new parts.
