Redeem prepaid codes

I have exactly the same problem, my son scratched the silver panel off and scratched the first part of the code off, there is a bar code & number on the card so surely this can be retrieved???

You can try contacting support to see if they can do anything, but there is no guarantee that they can. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada or support.xbox.com/contact-us

unfortunately there is really nothing that support can do... had the same issue and called... the best thing they can offer is give you the letters and number that are NEVER used in codes and try and figure it out :/

The following characters are not used in Xbox LIVE prepaid cards:

A , E , I , O , U , L , S , 0 , 1 , 5

If not half of it was removed, why not give it a try without the unused characters Ninja listed?

Same thing happened with my son...overzealous scratching.  Thanks for the digits not used (above) we will try this.  I also tried called XBox support, but was told to go back to the retailer.  I did, and they said "go to xbox."  Total runaround.  The store could not replace an xbox/microsoft gift card, as it is not their merchandise, and was told by manager that Microsoft doesn't "reimburse" them for this issue.  Therefore, Microsoft/xbox is the only one who scores with overzealous scratching.  I had the original store receipt, the package the card came in, and still Microsoft said they cannot do anything to help.  These "codes" have to be stored somewhere, as they are recognized once successfully entered, as credit appears in your account.  No one has access to them when you provide a receipt and bar number?  If not, they should, as accidents happen, particularly with kids.  I had a girl call me from XBox with a follow up call who said I just wanted to see if your issue was resolved.  I told her no, and she said, "Sorry.  I cannot help you.  I only do follow up calls."  O-M-G...really?  Maybe they could provide better customer service solutions if they saved on the salaries for their  "follow-up" people.

Sorry to hear about the issue! Since this is an older thread, I recommend sticking with our phone support team to see if they can offer any more insight.

Since the code was scratched a bit too much, we cannot guarantee the code will be replaced. Normally the best thing to do in these situations is to go back to the retailer you purchased from, but since you have tried that, this may be a situation where you may need to purchase a new code.
