Can't apply 20$ in xbox account to purchase Diablo 3.

I have 20 in my ms account and I can't apply it diablo 3. But when I tried to apply it to something less than 20$. It works. Am I really stuck spending the 20$ on a 19.99 game?

Hi AwareGolf4,

The system is a bit unintuitive.

If the content is more than the amount of credit, the only option you can choose will be credit card, but after you click "Confirm Purchase" it will ask if you want to apply the credit and pay the difference with the credit card.

Note that once you get to this point, the sale is complete, if you choose not to apply the credit, the full amount is charged to your card.

I hope that makes sense...

Can anyone else definitively confirm this? I dread confirming my purchase and then actually not having the ability to apply my microsoft credit to the order.

It's confirmed already.
Find an item that costs more than your current Microsoft account balance. This could be a game, movie, Gamertag change, or anything else on your beta console that you can buy with your Microsoft Account.

Attempt the purchase with a credit or debit card attached to your account.

When you hit confirm, you will be asked if you would like to also use your Microsoft account. It will say:

Do you want to apply the [Your Balance] in your Microsoft account toward this purchase, and charge the rest to your [Credit/Debit Card Selected]?

If you select “Yes, apply it”, your account will be drained and the rest will go onto your selected credit/debit card.

If you select “No, don’t use it”, the purchase will go fully on your credit/debit card

(This is not a permanent zeroing of your Microsoft Account, you can always fund it again using a token)
Hassassinade,

I saw in another thread someone trying this method but being fully charged on their credit card, and the balance in their Microsoft account still remained. How certain are you?

I've tried this personally on another account, and it's worked perfectly fine. Start the transaction with a credit/debit card, make sure you're paying attention to what's on the screen. You'll be prompted if you'd like to use your Microsoft Account balance and the rest of the amount will be charged to a credit/debit card.

The above has worked for a multitude of people on the forums (check section 10 - Redeeming a code). I'm not sure what the person did where it charged their card, but I'm assuming they were not paying attention to the prompts on the screen and pressed "No" when it came up asking them to use their Microsoft Account balance.

Just to add to that (sorry if it was mentioned somewhere and I didn't see it) this does have to be done on the console in order for it to work. Chances are, if someone had been fully charged, they may have been trying to do this on the website which is not set up to work with currency.
