Xbox 360 Fan ON after console shut down.

(Title) So the X360 has had this feature for a while now in order to decrease the chances of HW failure. Except mine stopped working out of the blue!

From Sunday to Monday, this feature is no longer working on my X360. I played games for the better part of the day today and not once did the fans stay on after shutting down the console. AFAIK, no updates were installed and the room temperature is the same as before.

My console's warranty just ended last month :/ I'd hate for it to die now.

My console does not always do this either. It generally only does it if I shut it off while I am playing a game off disc. If a game is installed/downloaded to your HDD/Flash drive it doesnt generate a lot of heat and doesnt need to run the fans longer.

Don't be too worried OP, as long as your console is well ventilated, the console should be fine. Out of curiosity is it a slim?

Did you change anything like background download options or have you been saving games to the cloud and moved to local storage?

My Box just did it as well. It is due to the core temp alert was met when shut down. It speeds the fans up to cool the processor down. the button slow motion flashes as well. Nothing to worry about. I do suggest that you blow out your xbox about once every 6 months to keep the fins from clogging up with dust and dirt. DO NOT BLOW YOU FAN TO THE POINT THAT IT WHINES. YOU WILL FRY YOUR FAN. Use short bursts of air.

The only time my fans on my 360 stayed on after console shut down was when I used a play and charge kit.

-

Not just the fans but the light on the front of my power brick was still green and not amber.

-

I would have to disconnect the cord from the back of the controller to get the fans off and then reconnect it.

-

It was like the console it self was shut down but it was still generating power to charge the battery pack.

-

Ever since I changed to a wired control pad the problem stopped.

i did

tore the whole thing apart and cleaned all the heat syncs (3 in mine) with water and soup then put new thermal paste on them then spray washed the fans with soup and water from a little balloon water filler from cvs (didnt put water in the magnetic part (i had my share of blown fans that i tore apart)

it turns off right after i disconnect my charger from the controller and mine makes my hd tv go blue screen ( my no signal screen is blue on my hdtv) after 15 to 30 mins of playing for like a sec then it works fine till i get lines in the tv then it does it again which idk if its my element tv or my xbox pro (since the hdd went bad and i got a new 120 gb one
