Hi, I've had a profile on my xbox for a year and i'd like to not lose my information. I just set up a gamertag with the same name and I don't understand how to sign in. This has been my first chance to get on xbox live and I set up my gamertag on my computer before I got on the console. All it is showing an option for is joining xbox live, which i've already done. How do I sign in?

Right ignore the profile you created on your computer for the moment. Sign into your Xbox profile on your console, click the avatar box and then the top option. Follow the instructions and you're good to go.

now it says
"This windows live ID is associated with a different gamertag. please enter another live id and password."

Still not a problem.
If it's not already on your console recover the GT you created on the website to your console (sign out from all accounts > click the avatar box > scroll to the right > recover account). Once it's recovered sign into that account, click the avatar box, scroll one to the right, click manage account > scroll two to the right > Windows Live ID > follow the instructions and change it to another e-mail address.
Once you've done that sign into the account you want to keep (ie the one with all your achievements) and try promoting the GT again.
