Can't connect to XBL on 1st Generation console

When you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" what is the exact message shown on screen?

Xbox cannot obtain an IP adress from your router.

I have a first gen. console and i can connect to XBL! Yesterday around 6:00 central standard time(Texas) my xbox randomly disconnected from XBL. then about an hour later my cable/internet and Playstation lost connection. Today my dad bought a new router and everything works just fine! EXCEPT for my xbox!

EDIT: My UPnP IS enabled

when you say first gen console do you mean the xbox or the xbox 360?

i mean the first gen. xbox360 as the regular xbox's xbox live has been shut down

yeah thats why I was asking, sorry was a long day at work.  I assume you have already tried manual IP settings and an alternate MAC address in the console, if these both didn't work I would suggest turning off the wireless security temporarily and seeing if that helps.  Also do you use any non-microsoft headsets?

Please go into your Network settings on the Xbox and run the restore to factory defaults setting, wait for it to complete, power off the Xbox, power on and try again.

I skipped this step as it is one of the basic ones in the troubleshooting and xRampage said he has done everything there.
