An error occured cancelling automatic renewal.

Hey there,

I'm running low on money and rarely use my Xbox, so I decided to cancel the automatic renewal on my account, however to my chagrin i've noticed that every single time I try, with every browser that I try it with i'm given this message "An error occured cancelling automatic renewal."

I personally find it ridiculous that it looks as though i'm going to have to call a company and be charged for a feature that's meant to be readily available.

Does anyone know of any fix for this apparent "error"?

Hey there Jonny! I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with the web site here. You can also contact phone support in your region to turn off auto renewal in the meantime if you'd like to skip to that.

Can you let me know which browsers you were experiencing this in? Also, can you try clearing the browser's cookies and cache and then reloading the page and trying again? Let me know if that helps, thanks!

I used my dad's iPad internet (safari) to cancel my automatic renewal. The only internet broswer's that I've heard of that have trouble with such a thing is BT or AOL. Internet explorer, Mozilla Firefox etc should be able to help you out through cancelling by pushing a few buttons. However as gwyther said you can also phone customer service to end your subscription in a few easy talk through steps and he/she will do all the work.

I've got the same problem! I don't want to pay 5.99 a month but it wont let me cancel my auto renewal and I don't want to call Microsoft as it's nothing but trouble. I think it's a joke that you can't just simply cancel an online membership Online

Hey II Rat1n0 II,  sorry to hear that you're having problems.  Calling in to support isn't so bad, but you DO have the option to shut down auto renew both on the website here and the console itself.  Just remember that if you take some action here on the website you might have to redownload your profile if it's not showing up correctly there.

Greetinsg, II RaT1n0 II. As Table 24 mentioned it is possible to turn of auto renewal over Xbox.com. Here's how: support.xbox.com/.../cancel-xbox-live-gold-subscription. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

lol. been reading through similar posts as im having the same issue. I press cancel. When I press continue I get the same error message as in the original post.

Support. Do you bother reading the comments or do you just post a generic response every time?

Customer " I get an error when trying to cancel online "

Support " Have you tried cancelling online? "

Sigh.

So many of these posts have been plastered over the forum and yet I have not seen support actually say they are looking into it or even why it doesn't work.

It could be that the servers are down, or you have not linked you're profile to the site. Send an email towards microsoft and see what they say.
