360 stuck on sign in/download

Hi,

I recently purchased a second hand 360 and I am struggling to log into xbox live.

It downloads my profile fine, pops up st the bottom saying I've logged in but it hasn't logged in and gets stuck on the password screen the white circle just keeps going round in circles.

I've reformatted the HDD, cleared my cache, deleted the profiles, completed a factory, reset my modem and rebooted the console number times.

I'm pulling my hair out, please help.

Attached screen dump for reference.

Do you enter in  your password and then hangs?

Do you have two-factor authentication on your Microsoft Account?  If not, you should, two-factor authentication should be on 100% every account that has it, but that's not the focus right now.

If you DO have 2FA, then it might be that you need an app password to log into your 360 since it does not have 2FA features.  Check this support page here on how to get an app password for your 360 login.

Hi PalmettoBling,

I do have 2FA, I have recently updated my mobile number but it is in place.

That's right I enter my password and I'm just stuck with that screen doesn't move forward.

OK, that's great.  It's likely the cause then, and good job on 2FA.  It adds so much more security to your accounts.

Just follow those steps I linked to to create an App Password and use that to sign into 360 and you should be good!

That's after you enter the password or before?  And are you using the App Password and not your account password?
