No boot disk has been detected or disk has failed.

Hello, In Windows 8 I get the error.... No boot disk has been detected or disk has failed.

I get the message every time Windows 8 does an update.

Thanks

Hi, Martin,

Is this an upgrade or did you purchase a new computer with Windows 8 pre-loaded?

Start your PC and go into the BIOS and then  select F2 Diagnostics and run the hard disk diagnostic test.

Or, use these free tools to test the hard drive

Honestly, no.  Worse Case Scenario:  The disk is in failure stages according to the message.  Trying PC Reset then going to HP to look for drivers for your unit may help.  Then again, it may be delaying the inevitable.

Next to Worse Case Scenario: Bios may need an update

Question:  When you upgraded to Windows 8 did you perform a fresh install of Windows 7, update everything then upgrade?  A fresh install before the upgrade would be better since prior issues with Windows would be wiped out.
