Windows is giving the wrong dpi options for my scanner, much too low.
I've had this issue before with a Kodak all-in-one, but can't remember how I fixed it.
All the available scanner profiles say 300dpi, which is really confusing.
All drivers and firmware are up to date.
How can I get Windows to recognize that the scanner has a dpi of 1200, not 600?

Hi,
- Which application are you using to scan?
- What is the exact model of the Canon printer?
Please check the scanner software properties and settings to change the defaults before the image is scanned.
You can adjust the DPI and PPI settings depending on the program you're using.
Please get back with the required information so that we can assist you further.

The printer is a Canon Pixma MG5550
I can change the dpi in the programs, but only up to 600, because Windows is giving me the wrong limit. All the properties of the scanner (in device manager) are showing that it only goes to 600, but it should go to 1200.
The Kodak I had before, which I had resolved the same issue with, was a Hero 5.1, but I can't remember how I fixed it in the end.

Hello Estragon,
I would first suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the latest Cannon Software from the Cannon website. Windows sometimes installs the default drivers for hardware which might limit the functionality of the device.
You can download the latest drivers for your Cannon device from:
If this doesn’t work, you can try to use some complementary scanning software that provide you many additional functionalities.
You can choose software from the following Cannon article:
Scanner Bundled Software

Hope this information is helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to help.
Thank you.
