Error 0x80070570. SATA Drivers Aren't Recognized During The Windows 7 Extraction

This can sometimes be caused by bad RAM. Check your RAM with http://www.memtest.org/

Note: you should install the latest BIOS update from your manufacturers website.

Sometimes this helps:
1. Boot into the BIOS
2. Change from "RAID Autodetect / AHCI" to "RAID Autodetect / ATA" or similar for your BIOS.
3. Press escape, choose Save / Exit.

Also, play it safe, shut down your PC and disconnect all USB devices (except the keyboard/mouse) before trying to reinstall.

1. Run Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if there are any known issues that might affect the installation and fix them.

2. Disable all security software including anti-virus and firewall programs.
3. Make sure your computer has the most recent BIOS and drivers.
4. Disconnect all external devices except keyboard and mouse before installing.
5. If your computer/motherboard has integrated video use that and remove the dedicated video card.
6. If you have a large amount of RAM (memory), try reducing the amount of installed RAM. 1GB if installing 32bit, 2GB for 64bit, then replace RAM if the upgrade is successful.
7. If you downloaded Windows 7 and burned it to a DVD try burning it again at the slowest speed possible. It's also possible the download may have errors, you could try downloading it again.

8. Check your RAM (memory) for errors. This may take awhile.
   A) Insert the Windows 7 DVD and restart the computer.
   B) Boot from the Windows 7 DVD.
   C) Choose your language, then click Next.
   D) Click on "Repair your computer" then select the operating system to repair.
   E) Click the Memory Diagnostics link on the System Recovery menu.
   F) The computer will restart and your memory checked for any errors.

9. Disable Startup Programs:
   A). Click Start, type MSCONFIG in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
      OK User Account Control permission and enter password if any
      If using XP: Click Start, click Run, then type: MSCONFIG and click OK.
   B) On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
   C) Right below Selective Startup, uncheck the "Load Startup Items" check box.
   D) Click the Services tab, click the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box, then click Disable All.
   E) Click OK, then restart the computer.
   F) Attempt the upgrade again.

(NOTE: if the upgrade doesn't work and you continue to use XP/Vista turn your security software back on, then also return to MSCONFIG and on the General tab, click "Normal Startup" then click OK to exit.)

I cant check the RAM I dont have a DVD to use. My motherboard is a brand new MSI 790fx-GD70 that I bought when I built my custom pc. It has BIOS v1.6. I dont know how to update the BIOS because it involves flashing it. Also the "RAID Autodetect / AHCI" to "RAID Autodetect / ATA" is not present. Mine says E-SATA Controller Mode on IDE, the other setting is AHCI. But the default setting was on IDE and my Western Digital is a SATA. I tried using one DIMM at a time and I had no luck. Why does memory have anything to do with it?

I got this same error repeatedly when trying to install Win7 Pro 64 bit through an Asus P8P67 motherboard w/ 2x4GB DDR3 memory modules onto a SATAIII SSD.  I spent a while toggling things in the BIOS: that always resulted in the same error 0x80070570 at various percentages of the file extraction/unpacking phase of the WIn7 install.  Then I tried a Win7 Home 32bit DVD: that installed no problem, which was funny but unacceptable b/c I didn't have an unused license key for it.

Then I went back to toggling things in the BIOS until I figured out trying to disable EVERYTHING in the BIOS (except AHCI) such as Turbo/Speedstep, USB/Audio/NIC/, EVERYTHING, plus removing the non-SSD data drive, plugging the boot SSD into a SATA II socket and removing one of the two DDR3 memory modules.  Finally it installed OK and I gradually re-enabled most of the disabled stuff over the next week.  The whole debacle was very time consuming and somewhat educational.  Now after about two weeks I am starting to see the same DWM and explorer crashes at boot that were the main reason I wanted to reinstall in the first place.  Not too impressed with Win7 after XP's reliability though it might be something like a very small malfunction in one of the RAM modules.

Final thought: should have marked the good install DDR3 module as good for install...

This thread maybe old but the damn problem still persists to this day 

I use an win7x64 bootable USB stick made with the MS USB program it's known good as I've used it to install on my own system 

but trying get it to install on a new system is a complete waste of time in AHCI mode

1st system to get this problem

Boot into setup it see's the HDD which was set to AHCI mode try to install 

error at 100% file extraction error code STOP :  0x80070570

Ok whatever

so restart try again this time loading the AMD AHCI win7x64 driver goodo it see's the dick start install and again 100% file extraction and stop  0x80070570

GRRRRRRRR WTF pulls out some hair does a dance and swears ;)

enter BIOS change SATA ports 1-4 to IDE mode and the freaking thing installs fine no errors no nothing it boots perfectly runs sweet BUT NOT WHAT I FREAKIN WANTED.......

It seems that Windows 7 x64 has a HUGE problem with SATA 6Gbps HDD's set to AHCI mode and not installing or configuring the mobo's AHCI Drivers properly even after it says it can see the drive fine 

I've also had it tell me it couldn't install windows on the selected because the controller wasn't turned on WELL F ME if thats the case how come you can see the HDD that your bloody telling me isn't turned or configured correctly

Just spent best part of 2 days trying various things to get Windows 7 64 SP1 installed on a clone PC which was running it before requiring a re install!

I Think it's about time MS fixed it and offered an new ISO which bloody well works the real funny thing is If I set the controller to RAID mode it works flawlessly during the install which is what I might just do from now on
