NVIDIA color settings may reset after installing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

After installing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) on a device with an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, the screen display may become noticeably darker.  The NVIDIA brightness, color, and contrast settings may reset each time Windows is restarted, and the color settings would need to be adjusted each time to compensate.  How can I resolve this problem?
Answer
Answer

Microsoft is aware of a known issue in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) that may cause color settings to reset on devices with NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards.

You can resolve this problem by installing the April 2018 Update (Windows 10, version 1803).
