Windows Media Player does not work in my Windows 10 PC or laptop to rip an audio CD. Error message "Windows Media Player has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution
is available." The program worked as recently as two days ago on the laptop.
Thank you for posting the query in Microsoft Community.
I understand the inconvenience that you are facing. We are glad to help you.
Let’s try the below steps and check if it works: Method 1: Windows Media player troubleshooter
I would suggest you to run the Windows Media player settings and the Windows Media library troubleshooter and check.
Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Media player. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Media player.
Refer these steps:
Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
Run all the Windows Media Player
troubleshooters
If the issue persist, I would suggest you to place the computer in a clean boot state and then check if it helps. You can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps
eliminate software conflicts.
Disclaimer: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps from section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” to reset the computer to start as usual.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.
