14959 pointer devices not working

Strange One -I installed build 14959 on Thursday and everything was fine. This morning (Sat) however when I turned my laptop on, neither my mouse or touchpad was recognized thereby rendering the computer useless.  I tried restarting multiple times to no avail. Eventually I booted from a USB drive (created with the media creation tool) and this solved the problem I've since restarted a few times and everything seems to be working fine.

If you restarted by shutting down, that would have saved some of the current state. Only a Restart is more thorough, so booting with the bootable media got past the Fast Startup/hiberboot which was probably preserving the glitch. This doesn't explain why the mouse and touchpad quit, but might explain why multiple starts didn't fix it at first.

You could check your Reliability history in Control Panel and see if it recorded any fail. Just type reliability in Cortana.

Thanks for replying. It does show a couple of events this morning, but doesn't seem of much use in figuring out what caused the problem.

No identification as to what caused the problem

Finally

I have an old MS mouse plugged in. It has a big shinny red light on it.

Help

P.S.

Sorry, forgot where I was. It's running anniversary edition on an intel i5 quad. I fell a bit childish, but Ive been anxious to have an issue since.my minor attempt at sarcasm.

Apologies for that
